Fauvism

John Nieto (1936 – 2018) was born in Denver, Colorado, and grew up with deep roots in New Mexico due to his Native American heritage. He became associated with the Santa Fe art scene, where his work found a natural home among collectors and institutions drawn to the cultural richness of the Southwest.  Rebecca Aldernet is a contemporary artist who works in a variety of styles. Some of her paintings are more realistic, but others experiment with bold colors and visible brushstrokes like the Fauvist style. Orange Days Vibrant Depths No Water Between Us Veil of Spring

 Chase Hall is a contemporary artist with a painting style similar to the Fauves through his use of bold colors and lines. Most of the skin tones in Hall's paintings are actually painted with coffee. Barbara Rae is a contemporary artist who takes inspiration from the bold colors of the Fauves. Her style is more abstract than the original Fauves, with some scenes only vaguely resembling landscapes. Raoul Dufy was a French painter associated with the Fauvist movement. He gained recognition for his vibrant and decorative style, which became popular in various forms, such as textile designs, and public building decorations. Dufy is most remembered for his artwork depicting outdoor social gatherings. Georges Braque was a major 20th-century French painter, collagist, draughtsman, printmaker and sculptor. His most notable contributions were in his alliance with Fauvism from 1905, and the role he played in the development of Cubism.
